…You’ve gotta ask yourself a question: “Do I feel lucky?”
If you’re a movie buff, then you recognize those immortal words of Clint Eastwood from “Dirty Harry”.
It was a chilling sight…the sneering face of Eastwood staring down the barrel of a .44 Magnum, as the criminal pondered his choices (which ultimately would be the last thing he ever did).
But I bring this to mind because of a discussion Brian and I were just having about “being lucky.”
Have you ever known somebody who seems to have the best luck in the world?
It’s like everything they touch turns to gold. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s in their business affairs or their personal life, they just seem to have luck on their side all the time.
I can add myself to that list. Because I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky.
I’ve built an 8 figure business, married the woman of my dreams, and have 2 beautiful daughters who are healthy and happy.
And along the way, I’ve had lots of lucky breaks–things that just sort of “happened” which ultimately resulted in me becoming more successful.
Business and Success Coach Tom McCarthy knows all about luck, He’s been studying it for years and claims that there’s an actual science to being lucky.
We’ll tell you more about Tom’s findings later, but for right now I want to give you 3 things that have always helped me increase my luck:
1) Get Out There: I’ve found that luck stems mostly from opportunities, and the more you put yourself in front of others, the more opportunities you’ll have. So don’t be an extrovert. Meet new people. Shake their hands. Look them in the eye and find out more about them. This will increase your luck exponentially.
2) Go With Your Gut: I can’t count how many times I’ve made an important decision based on a gut feeling and it’s turned out to be the right one. You should be doing the same. Follow your instincts and go with what you feel is correct. More often than not, you’ll see your luck increase.
3) Grab The Silver Lining: The most successful people I know don’t wallow in their misery when their luck goes sour. They find the best in the situation and focus on that. And guess what? They always turn their fortunes completely around very quickly. You can do the same.
That’s a few of the strategies I use to bring better luck to my life. But what about you?

So when is it ok to piss-off your customers?
I can hear all of you now; “What do you mean? the customer is King!” or “The customer is always right”. Well, I have an answer for that in a moment.
As I am writing this, I am sitting in the Phoenix airport just a day after playing golf at the TPC (Tournament Players Club) in Scottsdale Arizona. And, I am reflecting on a run-in I had with staff there while I was playing…
Before I start, understand that this is a course that any great golfer would love to play. They sometimes charge over $350.00 per round to play and it is part of the club that the PGA professional golfers own. In fact, this is one of the PGA tour stops (Tiger Woods had a hole-in-one here a few years ago).
So, picture this; for weeks now I have been all excited to fly out here to play this course. I have been talking to everyone about going. I get here, check into the hotel, pay hundreds of dollars for my cart and greens fee, buy my TPC hat and all proud to wear it, buy brand new fresh balls new glove, get some drinks, head to the driving range, meet my friends that I am playing with, and get all jacked up to tee off in 15 minutes. AAAHHHHHHH
“We now invite Mr. Brian Johnson and guests to the first tee”… comes over the loud speakers while we are getting warmed up on the driving range. All excited I say “let’s go guys, time to have some fun” We jump on the carts and speed up to the first tee where the starter is awaiting for us. He greets us and gives us some background on the day and welcomes us to the first tee. Things are great. The weather is beautiful. I am hanging with good friends, and we shake hands and say have a good time guys. The day begins.
Jon Walker tees off and puts it in the middle, Aaron from InfusionSoft hits a great one in the faraway and I put one on the left side. And we are off…
We get no further than the third tee where we were met by a ranger waiting for us. In a militant voice he says; “OK guys, you need to move it along, there are two holes in front of you and you have to rush through and catch up.”
WOW. What the heck just happened?
I was no longer excited, and the guests I was with were just as mystified as I was. The day was going well so I simply responded with an friendly; “OK, no problem” and we do our best to keep things going.
As a side note, we are all avid golfers and no slouches. We were only a 3-some and playing at a pretty quick speed. If you know golf, you know that you want to be courteous to people behind you and not hold them up. However there was not anyone behind us, we were not holding anyone up AND there was space in-between the group in front of us when we started to play in the first place.
It was just their “rule” that you should play at the speed that they (the non customer) feels you should play. It’s a lot like going to a fine restaurant and placing your order. Then they bring your appetizers and then immediately 5 minutes later bring you the main course. Then 5 minutes later come to you and say “Listen you can’t be here all night and we need the table for someone else, you should be able to eat in 15 minutes” How irate would you be?
Fast forward to two holes later. We now have gone through each hole putting without even taking the flag stick out of the hole, did not get a drink when the snack cart came around so we could try to catch up (which during summer in Arizona is not the best idea), ran back and forth to the cart and made up some time while we DID NOT enjoy the golf.
So we get to the tee at the 6th hole and the same ranger is there and says “let’s go guys, you need to hustle” at which point I was at a boiling point and said to him “Listen, we are not holding anyone up, no one has complained about us and there was already space between us when we started” His response was; “If you don’t like it you will be missing golf and I will move you into position where I think you should be”.
My response (in a manner that is unlike my collected self) was “@%#! THIS!” I just spent hundreds of dollars to play here, traveled across the country and have been looking forward to this for a while. Needless to say, I did not enjoy any more of the day and my opinion of the place went in the tank. I can’t even remember most of the golf I played. I felt violated, ripped off, scorned, and totally deflated. The guests I was with were even more upset than I was.
This Ranger does not know me at all, my golf experience or golf etiquette and still he is dismissing me? That’s crazy and customers should never be treated like that.
Right?
Ok, on the flip side I put my business founder hat on. I am thinking that they do this with the intention of taking care of all customers and not just one. Should they piss off one client in the spirit of keeping the other clients happy? Keep in mind we were NOT a hindrance to anyone and the Ranger was “Just following the rules put in place for all customers.” You have to have some rules or policies in place to handle situations where some clients will hurt others.
Right?
I can say that even here at Strategic Profits I am very protective of our company and anyone trying to take advantage (in my view) will have a hard time with me. Notice I said “in my view?” The client might not feel that way. But if I break the rules for one client it might snowball into many clients and now I have hurt the company as a whole, which in turn hurts all clients.
Right?
So the big question is; if the customer is always right… are they always right for YOUR company? This is a question that Spike Humer at Jay Abraham’s office brought up to me when I was telling him this story, and one that I want you to think about today.
It’s truly an interesting dilemma that company owners and founders need to deal with on a consistent basis. What you do, how you handle or not handle or how effective you resolve issues like this can make or break the company you founded.

OK, with that out of the way… the launch of GPS 2.0 has now officially reached deafening levels…
Swarms of people, from newbies to gurus whose names you would instantly recognize, have been bombarding us with calls and emails virtually begging to reserve a spot inside the program because they’re afraid they’ll miss out on the limited enrollment.
And they may be right.
Plus, all the while we’ve been getting swamped with questions about tomorrow’s release of Guided Profit System 2.0. And there still flying into my inbox faster than we can open them.
Anyway - I know you want answers, and that’s what I’ve got. So here are the details for the most common questions I’ve been receiving about GPS 2.0.
Question 1: Do I need to have a business already?
Ideally, the GPS 2.0 program would work best if you have your own business or at least the desire to start one. Because at the end of the day, that’s where your long-term wealth will come from.
But that being said, having your own business is not mandatory to get in to my program. Because small fortunes have been made by just knowing a fraction of what you’ll discover inside GPS 2.0 even by those without a business.
See, these atomic bombs of constraint eliminating firepower can be applied to any size business at anytime for staggering fees. That’s how I started, and it laid the foundation for my entire company. So, I guess it worked out ok. ;-)
But at some point, you’ll want to have the freedom that running your own business provides. And by using what you learn from me to grow your own business, you’ll achieve that in record time.
Question 2: What if I’m new to Internet Marketing and just starting out? Is this right for me?
That’s one we’re getting a lot. And it’s a legitimate concern. So here’s the skinny…
If you know absolutely nothing about the internet, have no offline business experience whatsoever, and can only put in one hour a week towards this program, then this probably isn’t for you.
Because the GPS 2.0 program is NOT–I repeat NOT–a business in box, a business opportunity, or a deal where I promise you that we’ll do all the work.
That’s a fools game. And while everyone deserves a chance for success, I tend not to mix well with those who haven’t adjusted to the realities of business life.
But if you’re willing to actually spend the time and apply what I’ll show you, then you’ll be starting a business armed with a skill-set entrepreneurs everywhere only wish they had when they started.
You’ll avoid all the paralyzing mistakes while consistently choosing the most profitable action. In fact, your new skills will be even MORE valuable in the start up stage, since that’s the time when entrepreneurs work the hardest, sacrifice the most, and make the least.
But, by simply utilizing what you learned in the GPS 2.0 program, you’ll be able to totally avoid the dreaded “overworked and underpaid” stage and waltz right into positive cash flow from the very start.
Question 3: What if I have a full-time job? How long till I can quit?
If you’re employed full time, the GPS 2.0 program might interfere with your evening TV schedule. But other than that this program is easily doable and enjoyable.
And as far as how long until you can quit your job, let me turn tables and ask you a few questions first:
How long is a piece of rope?
How high is the sky?
How deep is the ocean?
Sorry, but I have a reputation for being blunt at times. But here’s my point…
This is not a lottery ticket. It’s NOT going to happen overnight. The GPS 2.0 program is a fast-track process that builds a business in record time by first breaking down the constraints that keep your feet bogged down in the mud, then streamlining your business so it moves swiftly towards massive profitability.
Will it happen in 4 weeks? 8 weeks? 3 months? That’s entirely up to you and the constraints you walk in with. But I will make you this promise…
I will do everything in my power to advance your business as quickly as possible. You can take that to the bank. Because if you do well, I do well.
And when you finish the program and see what you’ve accomplished, you’ll not only impress yourself, but you’ll understand how vital the process was to get you where you wanted to be.
Just don’t plan on turning in your resignation letter to the boss next week. ;)
Question 4: What if I am already overwhelmed with information overload? Is GPS 2.0 going to eliminate it or exasperate it?
Ah, the ol’ paralysis by analysis enigma. That ban of most internet marketers.
That’s a fair question, because there’s literally 100 different ways you can make money online. And everyone promises that their method is THE method.
But here’s a little secret about information overload…
That’s actually one of the biggest constraints facing entrepreneurs today. It bogs us down until we don’t know which way to turn, which guru to follow, and which program to buy into.
So what do we do? Procrastinate, delay, and go looking for more information. After all, it’s a lot easier, it doesn’t hurt, and we don’t have to take a chance.

Whew...just trying to catch my breath after a whirlwind past couple of days...
As you may already know, I spent over 2 hours on the phone with a group of friends, business associates, and former coaching clients who are now world famous gurus.
And I'm proud to say that it was an unprecedented call for several different reasons--two of which I saw coming, and one of which was COMPLETELY unexpected.
Let me explain...
First of all, this call was completely the opposite of what most people expect on a teleseminar.
Usually, it's YOU with the problem and THEM offering a solution, right?
Well, in this case, we made a 180 degree turn--it was THEM with the problem instead of you. And it was my job to find out how they solved it.
My goal in this call was to delve into their biggest issues, going straight to the heart of the matter by simply asking each participant 4 quick questions:
Then I moved on to the next guru in the queue. Which brings me to the second unprecedented occurrence...
A group of this magnitude and million-dollar firepower has never--EVER--been assembled for one call.
Usually, a couple of gurus will tag team on a call. And once in a while you'll see a third swoop in for a few minutes.
But THIRTEEN? At ONCE?
I mean, take a look at this lineup:
Pretty amazing, isn't it? But there they were, waiting patiently for their turn to spill their secrets.
And the answers they gave were MIND-BLOWING. For example...
Joel Comm revealed how playing to his strengths took him from a struggling one-man show to almost $10 million a year in profits...
Mike Filsaime talked about taking his $30,000 a month business and multiplying it by tenfold, hitting the $375,000 a month mark in less than a year by making one simple mindset shift (that you can easily implement today)...

To put it bluntly, when the word went out about the replay, the floodgates didn't just open--they were BLOWN TO BITS.
If you saw my last Twitter post, you know I was up at 3:00 am last night, watching the registrations roll in at an average of 6-10 per minute.
That's up to 60 a minute, or 3600 an hour. At 3:00 am on a Monday night.
Yeah, that's what I thought too.
Needless to say, this was not only our biggest call ever...but by far the biggest call in the history of our industry.
But honestly, if it didn't do a thing for you...if it didn't help transform your mindset...if it didn't turn on the light and reveal the ugly, nasty thing that's holding you back from success...
Then it wasn't worth a dime.

In the Small Business section of CNNMoney.com, they profiled a furniture store in Virginia that wanted to be more competitive in the marketplace.
So they contacted me to have a look around their website. And man, the things I found…
I’m going to highlight a few of them here, followed by some changes I would suggest and how you can immediately add more selling power to your own website:
Problem: They’ve made it extremely hard for prospects to find what they’re looking for.
Solution: Step inside your prospect’s shoes and walk around the website in their frame of mind. Are you finding what you want? Or are your frustrated beyond belief? Then make the appropriate changes.
How You Can Benefit: This problem is a plague upon internet businesses everywhere. So many businesses fail because people can’t find what they REALLY want on their website.
The key here is to make it as easy as possible. Have all of your “hottest buttons” front and center. Make your best offers in plain sight. Don’t make your prospect work for it, because they won’t. They’ll just go to your competitor’s website, which is easier to navigate.
Problem: They were losing traffic due to not taking advantage of misspelled search engine inquiries.
Solution: Adding the misspellings to the meta tags could increase their traffic by 20% or more.
How You Can Benefit: Here’s one I see a lot, yet few take advantage of it. If your URL or product is something that’s misspelled frequently, make sure you do some keyword research and see how many searches are actually entered incorrectly.
You’ll be surprised at what you find. There could be hundreds–or even thousands–of people looking for you. But if they get one letter wrong, they’ll never get to your site.
That’s why it’s important to include ANY and ALL spellings in your meta tags. By doing this, you’ll substantially increase your chances of being found by those who are “grammatically challenged”.
Problem: There’s a page inside advertising their interior design services, but nothing to show us their talents in this area.
Solution: Show us your work–don’t just tell us–with some before and after photos. Or better yet, some video.
How You Can Benefit: This is CRUCIAL to any service provider. In order to highlight your skills. you must show your prospects what you’ve done in the past. That’s why testimonials are so important to your business.
And don’t just throw anything up there. Make sure they’re GOOD. Talk about how you’ve changed their lives, made them more money, gave them a better future, etc (much like the before/after photos I suggested above).
And here’s a tip: write the testimonial FOR them. Word it exactly the way you want to, then simply ask for an approval. It’s fast, easy, and most of the time you’ll get exactly what you want.
Problem: The first hour of interior decorating consultation was free, but they had this perk buried at the bottom of an inside page.
Solution: Put your strongest selling points front and center on the top of the page or even on the main page.
How You Can Benefit: HELLO! Major selling point alert! If you have something that offers value and separates your product or service from the rest, make sure your visitors know about it.
And don’t just mention it in passing–put it in plain sight on your main page. These are the types of things that can swing a decision your way instead of your competitors’. So take advantage of it!

Okay, okay, I know you probably think ol’ Rich has fallen off his rocker this time, but hear me out…
Because there’s a whole lot of wisdom in that one line from the Carpenter’s 1970 smash hit. And it has absolutely nothing to do with birds suddenly appearing every time you are near.Let me explain…
Ask anyone here at Strategic Profits and they’ll tell you I’m a pretty private person. I like to come in, focus on my work, and keep my personal business…well, personal.
But over the last year or so, I’ve been slowly cracking the door open and letting everyone have a peek at my life outside the office. And there’s a reason for that.
Back when I was first dipping my toes into the internet marketing waters, I attended a copywriting seminar hosted by none other than the great John Carlton.
John’s legendary in this business, generating multiple millions of dollars with his masterfully crafted sales pieces. In fact, many consider him one of the greatest copywriters living today.
And during this seminar, I was completely enraptured by John’s teachings. His breakthrough ideas on writing copy were very instrumental in my initial success online, and from time to time I still I refer to the notes I took from that seminar whenever I need a copywriting boost.
I remember that one of these instances was about a year ago. I was in the office working on some copy, so I quickly glanced at those notes to get a kick start.
But what I got was a kick all right–a kick in the HEAD!
These were the exact words that popped out at me in all caps and yellow highlighting:
YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE IF YOU ARE NOT PERSONALIZING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
Ever had an epiphany? Because I did right then.
I suddenly realized how closed and impersonal I had become in my copy, and how I had alienated much of my audience because of it.
I realized that, no matter how I may feel or think, in order to become a trusted advisor to my prospects and customers I needed to open up more about me, about my family, and about my life outside of Strategic Profits. And if I opened the curtain a little, they would most likely respond very positively.
In other words, John reached out from that sheet of paper, slapped me upside the head and said: “Yo Schefren…take a lesson from Karen Carpenter. They long to be ‘closer to you’. So LET ‘EM!”
I made a vow right then and there–I was going to create a stronger bond with my audience.
So I started focusing more on empathizing with them, understanding their situations, feelings, and motives. I dug deep to find out what kept them up at night…what gnawed at their very core…and how my products could help solve that.
Then I immersed myself into their conversations. I studied the forums and social networking sites they frequented. I made note of the buzzwords they tossed out. I wanted to learn the language they spoke, so I could talk to them more effectively on their level.
Finally, I just tried to be myself. I know that sounds overly simplistic, but it’s so crucial. Because we all know of people who have tried to be someone else in their business. And they’ve failed miserably because there’s no truth or integrity in anything they say. So I let my personality shine through a lot more, making a point to tell my audience about the little things–not just the big things–that affected how I live, work, and play.
And guess what? The response was AMAZING! Our subscriber rates went through the roof, we saw significant increases in sales, and my “likeability” factor was suddenly off the charts–all because of this shift in my copy.
But what about you? Is your copy stiff, stale, and lacking in personality? Are you pulling your prospects and customers “close to you” with your emails, sales letters, and blog posts? Or are you pushing them further away?
